Attachment Styles is a newsletter sharing my personal archive, sentimental clutter…and sometimes things I like. I’m trying out something new and sharing a few extras of my favorite items that I brought back with me from Korea and Japan on attachmentstyles.us 🥄

Since coming back from my Korea and Japan trip earlier in the fall, friends have been asking me, “What did you get?”. So here it is. It’s not everything, but I thought I’d share my absolute favorites and anything that I use daily. I try to make an annual trip to Asia and even then, I tend to bring back extras of any kitchen items or cosmetics that I love and use a lot…just in case. A very small selection of some of those extra items are available on attachmentstyles.us.
If you decide to try anything, let me know how you like it!

♡ Stainless steel oval plates
I first bought two of these during my 2023 trip and since then I’ve been using them every day for breakfast/pastries or plating side dishes. They’re lightweight stainless steel and dishwasher safe. I have a fair share of delicate plates and glasses, so it’s nice not having to be too precious about using these.
♡ Arabia Finland espresso cup and saucer
I have a collection of different ceramic cups that I like to choose from every morning depending on my mood. When friends visit, I like to choose a specific cup for them. This one is now a part of that collection. This ceramic cup and saucer is from a line called Ruska that was designed in the 60s. The line is no longer in production but there seem to be a lot available on Etsy.
♡ Stainless steel hammered spoon
A friend took me to AC House in Tokyo and I became fixated on this hammered spoon there. I kept asking questions about the ceramics and utensils throughout the meal. The spoons are hand hammered and polished stainless steel that develops a patina over time. I’ve recently acquired some antique pewter plates that I like the look of, but I’ve only been able to use them as trays or coasters. I like that these spoons have a similar look to aged pewter and they can actually be used for eating.
♡ Desk broom from Naito Shoten
I got this little desk broom from one of my favorite places in Kyoto, Naito Shoten. It’s a family-owned artisan/craft shop that sells handmade brushes, brooms, rugs etc. made from natural fibers. It’s been around for more than 200 years. A friend recently gave me (what I think is) the highest compliment and said that they think of me whenever they see a small broom.
♡ Small ceramic plates from Sゝゝ
I have an affinity for small plates. I’ve slowly built up a few of these ceramic ones. Each one is a different color and glaze.
♡ ︎Officine Universelle Buly Scented Matches, Retour d’Égypte
This is an unnecessary luxury that I love. Scented matches feel less cumbersome than poo drops (I’m also realizing I don’t want a product called poo drops?). The notes for Retour d’Égypte are amber, vanilla, hawthorn, jasmine, and bergamot. The scent reminds me of slightly burnt marshmallows and wood.
Skincare & beauty
♡ ︎La Roche Posay Rosy Tone Up
I will never be without this product. It subtly brightens and evens out your complexion without feeling heavy or looking like you’re wearing foundation/makeup. And it has SPF(!). This item is exclusive to Japan, but you can get it on YesStyle. There’s also a clear version with no tint.
♡ ︎Sakurajima Tsubaki oil
The first time I tried this, I finished the bottle within a month. I use it for my hair, but you can use it for hair and skin. I’ve tried other oils like rosehip and jojoba in the past, but I like how lightweight this one is. It’s pure camellia seed oil that’s extracted from the seeds of camellia trees harvested on Sakurajima island. There are other camellia oils out there (Oshima Tsubaki is a popular one that you can easily get here)—but I like the Sakurajima one because the packaging is cute and the small size is convenient for travel.
♡ ︎rom&nd Han All Brow Cara, Grace Taupe
I don’t know how to describe this other than it makes your brows look fluffy. The effect of this is subtle, but it softens the overall appearance of your brows while keeping them full.
♡ ︎Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Aqua-Fresh sunscreen
I use the Anessa Perfect UV Gel in the summer months and I’ve been looking for something less heavy duty to use in winter. This is my ideal cold weather sunscreen. The consistency is more like a light moisturizer and less like a traditional sunscreen.
Accessories & miniatures
♡ ︎Tao Floral Crochet Ear Warmers
A cute winter accessory. Wonhee from Illit also has the same ear warmers in the cream color.
♡ ︎agnès b. heart brooch
A small heart pin that I’ve been wearing on my jackets.
♡ Yoshitoku plush toy miniatures
I was first introduced to these miniatures at a kid’s toy store that I like going to (for getting gifts for friends and also for myself) called Acorn. I have two that have a permanent place on my desk. I love that each character wears an accessory of some kind. Some wear a hair clip, a bow, or a necklace. I learned from a friend that these miniatures are based on a collection of stuffed animals that were popular in the 60s. I wanted to learn more about the original stuffed animals and came across these old advertisements for them:
I bought multiple blind boxes so that I could increase my chances of getting the character I wanted.
♡ Tawashi brush keychain from Naito Shoten
A tiny broom is not enough. I needed an even tinier brush in the form of a keychain.
the mini brush phone charm pls 😭
wowowowow I clicked on so many things! the spoon! <3 also Phil's drawings so cute plzzzzzz
